*  This Spreadsheet is the ultimate result of many months of blood, sweat and tears by Bill Miles, a moderator at Maxima.Org.  It has grown tremendously recently and is also an ongoing process.  Since I do not wish to rely on the server at Maxima.Org, I have taken the liberty of reproducing the majority of the information on this site.  The comments below are the background on the different vehicles involved in the study and were written by Bill.  Click Here to go to the original thread in it's entirety.  To participate in the spread sheet please view the original thread for more information.

Brand New Motor Oil:

Samples included are Amsoil 0W-30, Amsoil 5W-30, BMW 5W-30 Synthetic, BMW 15W-40 Conventional, Castrol GTX 5W-30, Castrol GTX High Mileage 10W-30, Castrol Syntec Blend 10W-30, Castrol Syntec 10W-30, Kendall GT-1 15W-40, Mobil 1 Tri-Synthetic 5W-30, Mobil 1 SuperSyn 5W-30, Mobil Drive Clean Blend 10W-30, Penzoil Purebase 5W-30, Royal Purple 5W-30, ULX-110 10W-30, Valvoline Synpower 5W-30, Valvoline MaxLife 10W-30, Valvoline MaxLife 10W-40.

Brand New ATF:

Samples included are from Amsoil and Mobil 1.

Brand New Gear Lube:

Sample is Amsoil 80W-90 GL4.

Used Oil 89-94 Maxima's:

Samples included are from a 92 using Amsoil 5W-30 and 10W-30, a 94 using Mobil 1 0W-30, a 93 using Amsoil 5W-30, a 92 using Castrol GTX 5W-30, a 94 using ULX-110 5W-30 and Amsoil 5W-30, and a 93 using Valvoline MaxLife 10W-30.

Used Oil 95-99 Maxima's:

Samples included are from a 98 using Mobil 1 5W-30, a 97 using Castrol GTX 5W-30 and Mobil 1 5W-30, a 97 using Mobil 1 10W-30, a 99 using Castrol Syntec 10W-30, a 97 using Amsoil 5W-30 and Mobil 1 5W-30, a 97 using Mobil 1 Drive Clean Blend 5W-30, a 97 using Castrol Syntec Blend 10W-30, a 99 using ULX-110 5W-30 and Amsoil 5W-30, a 99 using Mobil 1 5W-30, a 98 using 5W-30, a 96 using Mobil 1 0W-30 and 10W-30, a 96 using Mobil 1 5W-30, a 98 using Royal Purple 5W-30, a 97 using Penzoil Purebase 5W-30 and a 97 using Mobil 1 10W-30. 

Used Oil 2000+ Maxima's:

Samples included are from a 00 using Mobil 1 5W-30, a 01 using Mobil 1 5W-30, an 01 using Mobil 1 5W-30, a 01 using Amsoil 5W-30, a 00 using Castrol GTX 5W-30, and an 01 using Valvoline Synpower 5W-30.

Used Oil Honda 4 Cyls.

Samples included are from a 97 Civic using Redline 10W-30, a 95 Civic using Redline 10W-30, and a 98 Prelude using Mobil 1 10W-30.

Used Oil Honda 6 Cyls.

Samples included are from a 99 Acura TL using Amsoil 5W-30, an 02 CL-S using Honda 5W-20 and Penzoil PureBase 5W-30, a 01 CL-S using Mobil 1 5W-30, a 01 Oddysey using Mobil 1 10W-30, an 02 TL-S using Amsoil 5W-20 and an 01 CL-S using Amsoil 5W-30

Used Oil Imported Vehicles:

Samples included are from a 97 Miata using Amsoil 10W-30, a 95 Honda Prelude using Redline 10W-30, a 85 BMW 528e using Amsoil 15W-40, Amsoil 20W-50, and Amsoil 10W-40, a 97 BMW M3 using BMW Synthetic 5W-30, a 00 Nissan Altima using Amsoil 0W-30, a 98 Honda Prelude using Mobil 1 10W-30 mixed with 15W-50, a 01 Acura CL-S using Mobil 1 5W-30, a 01 Honda Oddysey using Mobil 1 10W-30.

Used Oil Domestic Vehicles:

Samples included are from a 01 Mercury Grand Marquis using Ford 5W-20, Penzoil 5W-30 and Amsoil 10W-30, a 99 Dodge Stratus V-6 using Castrol GTX 10W-30, a 99 Ford F-150 Lightning using Mobil 1 5W-30, a 01 Ford Escape using Motorcraft 5W-20, and a  01 Ford WIndstar using Ford 5W-20.

Used ATF All Vehicles:

Samples are from a 99 Maxima using Nissan D4 ATF, a 94 Maxima using an unknown ATF and Amsoil ATF, a 94 Maxima using Mobil 1 ATF, a 97 Nissan Altima using an unknown ATF, a 99 Acura TL using Honda Z1 ATF, and a 98 Prelude using B&M Trickshift ATF.
